Our DJ’s hols may finally be over…

Ok, up. We can be right lazy. Hence our lack of action here. But we’re on it again…

Looks like we’re finally back in the game too. Made up to be spinnin’ in ‘ around Notts tahn again.

Next up’s our resi slots at Golden Fleece on Saturday 18th December ’21 then The Angel Microbrewery on Saturday 15th January ’22. Catch us on 3rd Saturday every month. Alt slots monthly into ’22.

We’ve also had a grand time spinning at The Bodega too. Got an irregular resi there too. Nice to mix things up.

We’re still spinning for our Barrel House Radio mukkas. Every other Saturday night, 8-9pm. Been a year long ride so far. Grand to be part of the BHR fam.

Still in very serious times, people. Who know’s where we’re going. Please stay safe. folks.

Last one. Here’s a juicy taste of what we’ve dropped these past months…

Radio, Radio…

Speakers

Hope y’all staying safe.

Cheese ‘n bread. Fookin’ year, this one. Never-ending it seems. The Guvn’r knew. Git. RIP.

Must admit we’ve been struggling with it. One big pish ‘n shite bank holiday vibe. Gotta keep plugging away, tho’. We’ll get there. Eventually.

Here’s something. Cheeky wee plug for our latest collaboration. Made up to have been asked to join the BarrelHouse Radio fam. New online station leaning lots towards all strands of sweet soul. Goes a bit wider too – electronica, jazz, nu-disco, roots reggae ‘n more.

We’re popping our online radio cherry at 9pm on Saturday 28th November. Expect saucy disco ‘n edits. Lock in. Can’t make it? Jump to Mixcloud where we’ll share all our shows very soon after the broadcast. Stuck a few recent mixes below. Take your pick.

Gaggin’ for that time when we can all do the same old cobblers. Shouldn’t taken so much for granted before. Funny, that.

Look after your loved ones ‘n yourselves.

We were so looking forward to Notts Pride ’20…

Notts Pride

Would’ve been our 5th year spinnin’ Notts Pride wax at Broadway Cinema, JamCafe and other fab Notts tahn places.

Getting cancelled was such a big blow but we’re all got bigger things to worry about.

Doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate safely by getting stuck in at home and other choice gaffs. Physically distanced, of course…

If ya need some juicy Notts Pride tunes to get the party going, blag some of our special Notts Pride mixtapes over at mixcloud.com/dirtydiscosoundsystem. Few different flavas to choose from – or just nab ’em all.

Whatever ya doing to celebrate Notts Pride, have a damn filthy, fun time. Keep yaselves safe too.

See ya at Notts Pride ’21…

A very emotional goodbye…

Record image

Now that got very emotional but we kinda expected that…

It was beautiful to see many folks at our Goodbye To The Guvnor, Andrew Weatherall celebration at JamCafe, Notts on Saturday 7th March.

Big DDS nods to everyone who boozed, bopped ‘n bunged cash in the pots for Notts Samaritans. Nice to see some bods reppin’ Sherwood too.

Extra special hugs to Bradley Jam ‘n his lovely crew for letting us have their sweet space ‘n keeping The Guvnor juice flowing all night.

And some of The Guvnor’s tunes we dropped (but not all) for those nice peeps who asked and didn’t know. Bless:

Since then, life’s taken a right ‘ol diversion. Not gonna ramble on about (enough noise out there…) but maybe – just maybe – The Guvnor knew. Thinking “Fuck this, I’m off to that ALFOS party in the sky’. Who knows?

We’re lined up to spin at Malt Cross on Saturday 21st March, Disco ‘n edits sesh. Still on as we write this. Checking in with our friends there regularly to get a line.

Obviously, bigger things are getting kiboshed all over. Makes sense as this situation gets more serious.

We’ve put our disco ball back in the box for a few months. Far more important stuff at play now. The party can happen another time…

‘Til then please stay healthy ‘n safe, people. Look out for each other too.

And if ya need tunes to keep goin’, jump in below. Working for us. Some of the time…

Been frisky with mixtapes too. Like buses, init. Here’s one we did for our Malt Cross resi instalment on Saturday 16th November. Like it lots, goes wide too. Enjoy.

DirtyDiscoSoundsystem X UCU Nottingham College Social Shout Out…

Dex at Rough Trade

Big DDS X UCU Notts College social on Monday 14th October! Thanks to everyone who got stuck in. Nice one. Thanks to the performers ‘n speakers too.

Hugs to Kyle ‘n RTN crew for letting us use their ace upstairs space. And a very special thanks to Sam (Mrs DDS!) for all her hard graft to help set up this special night. Couldn’t have done it with her.

Other stuff stacking up, Our new-ish resi at Malt Cross, Notts – 3rd Saturday every month. Next one’s on 16th November. Come, why doncha.

Time for another DDS X Jam Cafe Takeover sesh too on Friday 22nd November. Jam’s always a sweet place to play. Great vibes ‘n proper dancing. 9 ’til very late, folks. See ya there.

Oh, yeah, have this mixtape too. All-wax disco 45s drop. Bit of snap, crackle ‘n pop on em. Lovely.

DirtyDiscoSoundsystem post incomin’…

DirtyDiscoSoundsystem X The Malt Cross session

Shocking, init! We’ve finally updated this wee website. Awful form but we’re back. Kinda.

Big year. All sorts going on. Four Tet at Ally Pally, Nick Cave in Notts, Pride ’19 and more. Plenty DDS DJ gigs too.

Got us a new monthly residency at The Malt Cross. Proper excited. Always wanted to spin here so big hugs to Luke G and TMC crew. Next sesh is Saturday 21st September, 7 ’til late.

Few other things happening too. Special Dub ‘n Reggae sash at Broadway Cinema on Friday 13th September to accompany their screening of Inna De Yard that night. Tunes get going 7-ish. Teaser mixtape below, too.

Time for another DDS X Jam Cafe Takeover on Friday 27th September. Jam’s always a sweet place to play. Great vibes ‘n proper dancing, 9 ’til very late.

One more: our resi at The Angel Microbrewery’s now come to an end. Big nod to Ben R for having us these last few years. Good times, indeed. We may be back…

That’s it. See y’all next year. Just kidding’…

We’re still rollin’…

Turntable and mixerHow do. Usual lazy git check in. What y’all been up to? Yep, we hear that…

Been a steamin’ few months of all sorts – gigs and DJ slots. Gang Of Four (or their latest versh) at Rock City especially hit nice ‘n hard. That David Byrne gig at Notts Arena gaff was simply amazing (even in that cavern).

Stand out DJ slots include a special 80s electro pop night at Broadway Cinema tied into Soft Cell’s last ever live performance. And a very recent disco sesh at Jam Cafe, which was a hot ‘n saucy one.

We’re heading towards 2019 with a few more sessions before we bunker in for our Chrimbo and New Year hols.

Droppin’ seasonal cuts on Saturday 1st December at Sneinton Market for their big “Christmas On The Avenues” event. We may even spin a few “festive” tunes for that one. Then we’ve our final ’18 resi slot at The Angel Microbrewery on Friday 7th December. We may even slink in another cheeky sesh, who knows?

Anyhow, if you nodded your head or bopped to our tunes in 2018, we truly salute you. Nice one. Hopefully see y’all again very soon. Enjoy that future seasonal downtime…

We’re back. For a bit.

Lit stage at Bonobo concert

Thought we bung down some lines. Must tighten up that slack.

What we been up to? All sorts for sure. DJ gigs at various places including our usual resi at The Angel Microbrewery, some great sessions at Broadway Cinema, The Golden Fleece and others besides.

Recent standouts were a massive Notts Pride ’18 in July (3 slots that day!) and two fundraising sessions in June for Framework – The Get Down with NG83 crew and The Big Spin arranged by Synthetic Pro Audio fellas. Fantastic to be part of all those special bashes.

Also been to some crackin’ gigs in the last few months. Bonobo at Ally Pally, London and A Certain Ratio at Hare and Hounds, Brum. Yep, A Certain Ratio. Both were amazing for very different reasons. Still buzzin’ from those…

Got some long overdue downtime time coming up but we’ll shoehorn our August Angel resi sesh in before that. We’ll be back there in early September too.  We’re also doing a tight dub ‘n reggae slot at the special Punk It Up Rock Against Racism event on September 15th at Rough Trade Nottingham. Really looking forward to that one. Gonna be special, we reckon.

That’s it. Social’s where we make our real noise day in, day out. More fun too. Join us there for a right old chin wag if you fancy.

‘Til next time…
